Winchcombe School leadership change
Headteacher steps down

In a letter to parents, carers, students and friends of Winchcombe School, Jonathan Templeton wrote:

“I feel that the time is right for a change for both myself and the school.
It has been an absolute privilege to lead this wonderful school and to work with such dedicated staff, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our incredible students. Over the years, I have been continually inspired by the enthusiasm, resilience, and achievements of our young people, and I am immensely proud of all that we have accomplished together.
I am proud of our achievements over the past six years, securing a Good Ofsted grading, achieving the strongest GCSE results in the history of the school, improving the school facilities and growing the number of students attending the school.
While I will be sad to say goodbye, I am reassured that Winchcombe School will continue to go from strength to strength. I look forward to making the most of my remaining time here and celebrating the successes of our students as we approach the end of the academic year.
Thank you again for your support.”

A statement, the Winchcombe Local Governing Board and Balcarras Trust said:

“Mr Templeton successfully led the school through a wide range of challenges and changes: the Covid pandemic, the building of the Sports Centre, new classroom practices, the upgrading of catering, performance arts and science spaces, and the continuing development of pastoral and other support for students. He also led and managed the transfer from being a stand-alone academy school to joining the Balcarras multi-academy Trust in 2023.
Under his leadership the school has had some notable achievements including a Good Ofsted report, record GCSE results, and national recognition for progress of pupil premium students. Pupil numbers have increased significantly, and Winchcombe School is attracting more students year on year.
It has been a privilege to have Mr Templeton as Winchcombe's Headteacher. He has laid strong foundations for the next chapter of Winchcombe School's development. We would all like to thank him for his dedication and hard work and wish him every success in his future career in education.”

Jonathan Templeton will be leavng his post at the end of this academic year.
